The ENCIRCLE procedure is a specialized, minimally invasive way to replace a failing mitral valve without the need for traditional open-heart surgery. Using a technique called Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR), doctors reach your heart through a small catheter in the groin.
A new, artificial valve is compressed inside a thin tube called a catheter and guided directly into the position of your old, leaky valve. Once it is perfectly placed, the ENCIRCLE valve is expanded, pushing the old valve out of the way and immediately taking over the job of regulating your blood flow.
Because this method avoids the trauma of opening the chest or stopping the heart, the recovery process is typically much faster and less painful than conventional surgery. This procedure is specifically designed to stop blood from flowing backward into your lungs, which helps eliminate shortness of breath and gives you more energy for your daily life.
